Let’s just be honest…..change is probably the hardest, most disliked + unwanted thing in the world. Most people don’t even like change; myself included. But sometimes, change is just downright necessary.

Change is what helps us grow.

Change is what led me to fighting against human trafficking outside of Dressember. Change is what led me to switch jobs, finding a school I love working at. Change is what led me to digging myself out of credit card debt + learning to better manage my money. Change is what led me to start a blog on my journey towards living more ethically + sustainably. Change is what led me to write this post.

What brought me here

If you have been around the blog awhile, then you know that several years back I felt God was telling me that if I was going to fight against human trafficking then I was going to do it fully, with my whole being. That led me to make some radical changes (there we go with that change thing again!) in how + where I spend my money. Which then, led me to purchasing products that are more sustainable + ethically made.

But let’s just be real honest. Living ethically + sustainably can get a tad pricey πŸ˜…

Some of the expenses tend to be more upfront + pay for themselves plenty of times over. For example, my menstrual cup, UNpaper towels from Marley’s Monsters, or reusable cotton rounds. They’ve kept me from repurchasing products I was buying but replaced them with. But others, have to be replenished continually + the expense keeps accusing; like toothpaste or toilet paper (because we all know we NEED those things πŸ™ƒ).

And those are the changes I’m making.

You can read all about why I choose Bite toothpaste bits (here too) + Reel toilet paper in previous blog posts. The reason for my change isn’t that I’m dissatisfied with the products. I continue to think that both Bite + Reel are great companies, doing great things + I’m still highly satisfied with their products; I’m just making adjustments (just a fancier way of saying changes πŸ˜‰) to better fit my financial needs.

The changes I’m making

I decided to switch to using toilet paper from Grove Collective; for two reasons. One, it’s a smidge cheaper than what I’m paying at Reel. Reason two, Grove is a B Corporation + this better fits into my desires to shop/live ethically + sustainably.

I’ve been using the toilet paper + I have to honestly say I like it better than Reel’s πŸ™ˆπŸ€ Shocker, I know!

I’m also making the switch to using toothpaste + deodorant from Modere. I was introduced to them from someone I follow on Instagram who is trying to use clean + healthy products. So her social guidelines are quite similar to my own + I feel she’s a voice I can trust. I just recently received the products + want to use them a bit, but I’ll share my thoughts soon!

I’m also making the switch to using Prose hair products. While I love the idea behind HiBar (you can read my review here), it wasn’t working for my hair any longer. My hair gets kinda stubborn like that. Prose, while pricer, is a B Corporation + that’s something I can get behind. So far, so good. More thoughts will come later after I’ve used the products a bit more.

All that to say, change isn’t always bad! And being someone that doesn’t necessarily care for change, I’m learning how to thrive in change. Because life is never going to go the way we plan.

Plus, it’s never too late to change + become the person you were created to be 😘
